As lemons are acidic in nature, they serve as a very effective cleaner. Along with this, the lemons have an antibacterial property and it can bleach things naturally. Lemon can be effectively used to dissolve the soap scum and the deposits of the hard water. Lemon juice is effective to clean any product made of copper and brass. On copper, lemon is more effective when dipped in salt. Lemon peel can refresh the kitchen and the drains. If linen and clothes catch stains, the lemon juice can bleach it away. So it can be a great choice for cleaning agents.
Apart from being a very effective cleaner, vinegar is also an effective deodorizer and disinfectant. In fact, vinegar can be used to clean anything except marble. An equal amount of vinegar and water can be used as an all purpose cleaner and you can use it on the countertops, stoves, brick surfaces and appliances. Similar solution can be used to mop the bathroom floor. You can take a spray bottle and add a couple of teaspoons of vinegar and fill the bottle with water. This can be used as window cleaner. You can also use the vinegar inside the toilet bowl and scrub . Its strong smell disappears after it dries out.
If you are looking for an abrasive cleaner, baking soda is the ideal solution. It can be very effective to dissolve dirt, grime, grease, mildew and wax. It is a deodorizer as well. 1 quart warm water along with 4 tablespoons of baking soda can be an all purpose cleaner. Half cup of baking soda can be added to the rinse cycle. It will act as fabric softener and also make the clothes odor-free. To remove stubborn stains and rusts, you can wet them for a while and then scrub by using baking soda with steel wool.
Mixing them together:
A mixture of lemon juice and baking soda or vinegar can be an effective all-purpose cleaner. A lemon can be cut into halves and sprinkled with the baking soda. This will be a great abrasive cleaner to get rid of the stubborn rusts, stains and dishes. Quarter cup of baking soda with 1 cup of vinegar can be a super toilet cleaner. Half cup of each of baking soda and white vinegar can be poured in the drains and it should be allowed to sit for 15 minutes. After that 1 gallon of hot water should be flushed to avoid build up in the drains.
